SOULROOTS MOSS ART

Soulroots moss art was founded on a love for the outdoors and the desire to reconnect people with their natural world. Moss wall art and preserved moss bowls are an easy way to bring the outdoors inside, enjoy the aesthetics and healing benefits of nature with very little maintenance. Each Soulroots moss art creation is hand-made, thoughtfully crafted and customizable to any size to meet your individual needs.

The mosses and plants used in all Soulroots moss art creations are sustainably harvested, naturally preserved with natural oils and food dyes to enjoy for years to come.

There are countless emotional and psychological benefits to connecting with nature daily; stress and anxiety reduction, greater focus and productivity, however the reality is many people spend the best part of their days in spaces that do not foster those needs. Biophilic design principals which include green wall art facilitates this human need to connect with nature.

An integral part of Soulroots vision is to support local organizations committed to protecting our natural resources, educating children and helping in the healing of trauma survivors.

A portion of each Soulroots moss art sale will be donated to one of our select charities.

FREQUENTLY  ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF MOSS ART?
Having a moss wall or art in your space has many functional and psychological benefits. There is no place more peaceful and grounding then a forest. Research has shown that nature can help calm the nervous system, reduce hostility and anxiety and a connection with nature has actually been found to lower stress and minimize mental fatigue. This is because of the automatic response our bodies have when being around natural environments. In addition moss walls have a great sound absorption capability, can enhance speech clarity and sound quality by dampening echoes while having energy boosting effect . Introducing natural elements to locations where they can't normally be seen lifts our mood, making us more alert and positive. They make a perfect choice for homes, conference rooms, and classrooms. Incorporating Moss art (biophilic design) in your home or business is an easy way to enjoy the serenity and calmness of the natural world regardless of where you live.
  • HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR MOSS ART?
One of the great benefits of Moss Art is how little maintenance is needed. There is no pruning, watering or light needed. Your moss art will remain lush and vibrant for years with the right care. It is meant for indoors only at humidity levels between 45% - 65%. Outside of this range, the look will remain the same but the soft texture may change. Do not expose your moss art to water. Avoid placing in direct sunlight and direct heat. To control dust, once or twice a year you can lightly dust your moss art using a hair blower on cool setting or with a compressed air canister (typically used for electronics)
  • HOW ARE THE MOSSES AND PLANTS PRESERVED?
The mosses, lichens and plants used in each moss art creation are 100% naturally preserved without the use of chemicals. The preservation process is comprised of natural oils and food dye and locks in the moisture in the plant allowing it to maintain the soft supple texture and natural appearance for years to come. With ideal care and conditions mosses can maintain their structural integrity and colour for 8 + years, plants 1- 8 years depending on the variety.
  • WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY OF RAW MATERIALS USED IN MOSS ART?
We do not harvest our own moss, and are commited to working only with environmentally conscious suppliers. The mosses and lichens are grown in Italy, France, Spain and Norway and sourced exclusively from farms that have strong commitment to sustainability and follow strict ecological practices. Lichen takes 20 years to grow therefore the farms do not harvest more than 5% of a field at any time. Once harvested fields are left for 20 years before revisiting. The preserved plants used in our moss art are grown in controlled environments with the intention to harvest for preservation, which limits the process's impact on environment. All raw materials are transported via boat rather then airplane. All other elements incorporated in the moss art; branches, driftwood, tree bark are carefully collected from local beaches and forest with special care not to disrupt the natural ecosystem.
  • WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRESERVED MOSS AND A LIVING WALL?
There are several similarities between living walls and moss walls. When it comes to maintaining the freshness of your green walls, there is a huge difference between maintaining Preserved Moss Walls and Living Walls. Preserved moss will certainly stay green and stunning for several years, unlike living wall surfaces that need a great deal of attention and an expert level of care in order to stay in good condition. If you look at the financial aspect, you can also see that Preserved Moss Walls are cheaper compared to Living Walls, when it comes to, both initial investment and maintenance. Preserved Moss Walls do not call for any type of water-base care and the setup is less complicated. One more advantage that Preserved Moss Walls have is that they are actually quite lightweight for their size, especially compared to a Living Walls. To sum up, Preserved Moss Walls represent concessions between both worlds, providing you with all the advantages a Living Wall has to offer, without the responsibilities and excessive costs.
